Trauma & Attachment

You adapted to survive, and that took immense strength.

You deserve to feel more connected to yourself and the people around you.

Trauma is not defined by the event itself, but by the impact the event has on the nervous system and the beliefs one holds about themselves, others, and the world.

When someone experiences trauma—whether relational, systemic, or a situational event, it disrupts the nervous system leaving the body and mind on high alert. Hypervigilance, emotional numbing, and shame can create daily struggle for people well after the event/experiences have occurred. I can help you to learn when you are feeling heightened or shut down and help support your system to feel more centered and grounded.

When trauma occurs in the context of a relationship (betrayal, abandonment, or abuse) it can result in deep emotional wounds that disrupt an individual’s sense of safety and trust in others as well as in their own ability to regulate and feel secure. This can lead to fear of abandonment, and a deeply held belief of not being worthy which makes it difficult to rely on others or even on one’s own emotional responses.

Through the development of emotion regulation and increased self-compassion, I can help you tend to the wounded parts of you that feel unseen and unheard and offer relief to the parts that have been protecting you and kept you stuck in survival mode.
